The History of Poker and first Poker Games

The poker game which is thought to be derived from various, it’s not known exactly when was first founded. According to some sources, it is known to be a game played on Mississippi riverboats in 1834. While doing research about poker, Jonathan H. Green describes this game played on the Mississippi riverboats as “Scam game” and is the first person to describe this game as poker. In this article, we will try to explain everything that we can about the history of poker.

Poker History

This game, called Poker, was played with 20 cards that used Aces, Kings, Queens, and Jacks at the time. In this game played between two and four people, each person would be given 5 cards. Poker has become known all over the world over time and has created today’s casino culture, and while coming to these stages, it has changed shape and gained different rules. Today, the game of poker is the most played card game, and tournaments around the world have made poker a sports competition with a high level of competition. Many names that have achieved significant success in poker tournaments and the rise of poker in the world have managed to attract people from all over the world.

Texas Hold’em Poker

Texas Hold’em Poker is one of the most famous and most played poker games. In the Texas Hold’em game, the table moves depending on the dealer. Before the cards are dealt with by the Dealer, the first two players to the left of the Dealer are expected to place blinds. Small and large blinds are imperative in the game in order to bring a motion to the game and ensure the continuity of the game.

Omaha High

It is a type of poker derived from Texas Hold’em. Although they are played with similar rules, there are some differences between them. In Omaha, players are dealt with 4 face-down cards instead of 2. Five cards are revealed again. Each player can use two of the face-down cards and 3 of the 5 cards opened for the best hand they can create.

Omaha Hi / Lo Poker

This game is based on the highest (good) and lowest (bad) hand. So the players who win the high hand and the low hand share the middle pot. When there is no one to win the low hand, the whole pot goes to the high hand. Players can create combinations with 3 cards on the table using only 2 of the 4 face-down cards dealt with them.

Seven Card Stud

7 Card Stud is a poker game with a maximum of 8 players. Before the 7 Card Stud starts, players put in a certain amount of money. In 7 Card Stud poker game, this is called the ante. 7 cards are dealt with the players, 4 of which are open, and 3 are closed. The player’s hand consists of the 5 best cards to make the winner clear. After the Ante has been paid, 3 cards, 2 of them open, and 1 open are distributed to each player. The player with the lowest of the open cards has to make “bring-in”, that is, put money in the middle and open the game.

Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo

Seven Card Stud Hi / Lo Seven Card Stud is the highest (good) and the lowest (bad) type played by hand. The person with the hand with the highest cards takes half the pot, while the person with the hand with the lowest cards takes the other half of the pot.
